Frequently asked questions
What about the lesson guides previously offered?
We had designed lesson guides as interactive (MS) PowerPoint-based lessons earlier. They had intended to be used for self-learning at home but we quickly realised it wasn’t our best of ideas.
How will e-learning be conducted?
Lessons will be conducted in real-time and in small groups of no more than 3 students per session. Our teacher will be there to guide and instruct the students in real-time throughout the session.
Each session will be the same duration as the students’ regular classes.
What do I need to prepare before starting e-lessons?
We will conduct real-time classes through the digital meeting platform Zoom. The Zoom app will therefore require downloading ahead of time.
It is recommended that the student uses a laptop or desktop. If there is any additional device available for their use, even better!
We have designed lessons such that it requires only art materials and supplies that are likely to be available at home. Here's a useful guide.
What will happen to my child’s paid classes?
For avoidance of doubt, all lessons from existing term packages will be put on hold till studio classes resumes.
For Junior Artists (ages 7 and up)
E-learning is highly recommended for the Junior Artists programme.
Junior Artist students (ages 7 and up) possess a higher level of independence, understanding and focus required for autonomous learning. Lessons during this period will not include the use of supplies that require adult supervision, so students should have no issues with learning independently.
It is highly recommended that Junior Artists consider e-learning during this period.
For Itchy Fingers (ages 5 to 6)
E-learning is optional for the Itchy Fingers programme.
Itchy Fingers students possess some level of independence, understanding and focus required for autonomous learning. Varying from child to child, students may require guidance or assistance by an adult from time to time. If possible, parents are encouraged to sit in for classes for a fun experience too!
If you wish to opt in, please inform us.
For Happy Hands (ages 3 to 4)
E-learning is less favoured for the Happy Hands programme.
Physical presence and social interaction are key components to Happy Hands. Due to the fluidity and organic nature of our age-appropriate classes for this age group, it is more likely to present several challenges.
You may visit our YouTube page soon (we're working on creating some videos!) for some inspiration on creative ideas you can work on with your little ones!
Classes will resume once our studio reopens and your child’s term will resume accordingly then.
I would like to join Art Online but don’t have art materials/supplies
Fret not! Please contact us for advice.
May I choose to opt out of e-learning?
If you wish to put all classes on hold during this period of studio closure, you can.
Classes will resume once our studio reopens. Your child’s term will resume accordingly then.
Due to the changes in our updated alternatives to regular classes, discount will no longer be made available.
Fees for all renewal packages will be back to normal.
Is Zoom safe?
We are aware of reports of security breaches regarding the use of Zoom. We've deliberated on the use of other platforms and correspondingly spent time conducting trial classes with platforms including Skype, Google and HighFive.
- Unique meeting ID for each session (instead of fixed personal ID)
- 'Waiting room' enabled for extra verification (only verified participants will be allowed to join)
- Meeting will be locked once all students are in
